"HAIR DRAMA" Gospel Stage Play Breaks Records and Goes on Tour

Hair Drama Gospel Stage Play will make you laugh, cry and have hope all at the same time! Just imagine Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All by Myself meets Queen Latifah in Beauty Shop. It's a show that you can't miss!

MIAMI - May 15, 2010 - In late March, the Joseph Caleb Center Auditorium came alive when local non-profit Nickles For Our Youth debuted the gospel stage play ‘HAIR DRAMA.’ The show was a huge success as evidenced by the constant laughter of the over 500 people in attendance. According to management, the crowd was record-breaking for a first-time play at their venue.

The play is a loose bio of the lifestyle of Miami’s own local beauty industry heavyweight, Felicia Brown a.k.a Mahaqni. She wrote it because she wanted to teach people a lesson in the rewards of diligence and perseverance.

“You know overnight success is a myth. There were many times I felt like throwing in the towel and only my faith in God brought me through. I want people to know if I can do it, so can they. It’s never too late to go after your dreams,” Brown stated.

‘HAIR DRAMA’ tells the inspiring story of a single mother stepping out on faith to pursue her dreams of owning her own business. But it won’t be easy! Unexpected obstacles come sailing at her from every direction and Mahaqni has to decide whether she’ll sink or swim.

In early February, Brown and her team embarked on an intense guerilla marketing campaign for ‘HAIR DRAMA.’ They put out thousands of flyers and utilized other tactics to catch the public’s interest. Evidently, it paid off for both show dates.

Attendees came from cities as far away as Atlanta, Jacksonville, New York, Chicago and Tallahassee to support the show. People from all walks of life sent in testimonials about how much they enjoyed the show.

“Bravo! Hair Drama is a wonderful and delightful play that tells a powerful and inspiring story. The acting and music were outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance,” said Marcia Wright, a Broward County school teacher who attended the play in Miami.

Hair Drama Gospel Stage Play next stop is Orlando, Florida.
